Overview
Sur-Gard is a Canadian-origin brand of central station alarm receiving equipment, originally developed by Digital Security Controls in Toronto and now owned and marketed by Johnson Controls as part of its security infrastructure portfolio. Sur-Gard receivers, including the SG-System I, SG-System III, SG-System IV, and SG-System 5, are the backbone of professional alarm monitoring centres across Canada and internationally, receiving and processing alarm signals transmitted from intrusion and fire alarm panels via telephone, IP, cellular, and radio paths. The SG-System 5 is the current flagship, capable of receiving millions of alarm events per hour with full redundancy, and supports the SIA DC-09 IP protocol, Contact ID, and numerous proprietary formats. Sur-Gard receivers are required for ULC-listed monitoring stations in Canada, making them foundational infrastructure in the Canadian alarm industry.
